Entry #1: Today is a new day.

Okay, well here it is at long last. A blog specific for the purposes of posting things related to my quest for a healthier, thinner me. I don't have a scale or measuring tape or anything like that here, so my weight and measurements will be posted weekly at most (I have both those things available at Tom's grandmother's house and we go weekly for dinner), but I'll still try to post here as much as I can with how it is going. I understand a lot of times people have their own things going on, but of course any support that comes to this blog is both welcome and appreciated!

As far as food goes, I'm still sort of at a stand still as to what the best thing to do with that is. I know Karilynn told me to go to livestrong.com to figure out how many calories I should be consuming (thank you for that by the way) and I figured out that I should be consuming around 1500 calories each day in order to lose about 2 pounds a week. So, really I guess I just need to get into the habbit of learning to really count calories. Also Jess has said that she would ask Mom to make me some copies of some of their weight watchers stuff so that I can start counting points if I want to. (Also very much appreciated.) So right this moment I've more or less been trying to make it a point to not overstuff myself when I eat. I eat until I'm content and I actually let my stomach decide when it's time to stop instead of my mouth.

As for exercise. During our weekly visits to Grandma's house I'm planning on starting to use the weight machines that she has and has said we were welcome to use. I wish I could make use of them more than that (and maybe I will eventually) but with how much gym memberships cost these days, free weights are better than no weights. I'm also starting to try to be more active outside at home as well and yesterday and today I actually got outside for a little bit of exercise. It wasn't much either day. Just a bit to get my blood going and get myself on the road to moving again. I'm also planning on starting doing some yoga soon. Dawn invited me to do it with her and so I think it will be nice to have someone there with me. ^_^ I am NOT going to go full fledge yogan (as I read up on the subject and I'd have to give up meat...something I don't feel like is within what I can do.)

Now with all that out of the way, down to the most important part of this entry. Weight and measurements.

Weight
Previous: 160
Current: 160 (I'm putting the same  becuz I haven't actually been there this week to check)
Difference: 0

Measurments

(I'll add these in starting when I get my new current weight this week when I have measuring tape I can use)

Wish me luck!

  2. Good luck, sweetie! I am so proud of you :)
If you are looking for great ways to get into shape (as am I), I heard of a great program online called Couch to 5k (I googled it when a friend told me about it!), and it is a week by week program, 3 times a week, about 20-30 mins each week. It starts pretty slow, and i will be starting it soon, so maybe we can cheer each other on if you are interested ;)
